Bookshelf 95 on XP PRO

I have an older program called Bookshelf and would like to be able to run
this program on XP Pro. While it installs and works ok, you have to insert
the CD ROM into the drive in order to run it. Is there any way that I could
copy the files off this CD onto my hard drive so that it would run without
messing with the CD?

Install Nero software or any other which can make a image disk. Best option
is to have Nero. Install Nero and copy Software CD as Image on your Hard
Disk using Nero and when it asks u for cd simply give its path it wont bug u
again.

hope this helps u out, best of luck

Back when I first started using Win 98, I did exactly what you ask
but there were few--if any--CD writers back then, and no access for
the typical users to CD management software such as Nero.

I therefore decide to take a gamble. No big loss if it didn't work.

Examined Control panel Add/Remove for Bookshelf. Removed it.

Opened my Bookshelf 95 disc using Win 98's Microsoft explorer and
dragged the contents of the CD to my hard drive. Then removed the
Bookshelf 95 CD, rebooted, made a shortcut of the bookshelf.exe
program and loaded the shortcut into the Start > Programs folder.
Clicked on the Bookshelf shortcut and it opened. Seems like I
had to tweak a couple more things but it worked fine...even audio
pronunciation of words.

Things being what they are now, I'd probably depend on my CD-RW
software (Roxio 6) in an attempt to make Bookshelf work.

Use at your own risk, however. You shouldn't have any real problems.
If you do, just delete all the Bookshelf files off your hard drive and
start over.
