Windows XP Embedded Step by Step (By James Beau Cseri)
is a good book. I thumbed through the book that you are
talking about and it seems to be a good book. Good luck.

I would definitely agree. Most any of the more "advanced" features, El
Torito boot, EWF, Shells, etc., are fairly clear and concise in the book. A
must have.
Udo,
If you have never built or deployed embedded run-time and you are an
absolute beginner then I would recommend "Windows XP Step By Step". It is a
very basic book to get you started. However, soon when you are comfortable
with embedded platform and tools, you will need "Advanced" book. If you have
never worked on embedded system, I would advise to start with "Step by
Step".
