The blurry effect you are getting is because you are not running at
the LCD's native resolution. Because a LCD has a fixed number of
pixels (unlike a CRT), when you choose a lower resolution, the
display is interpolated.
There is no solution to your problem other than to get a different
LCD with a resolution that is comfortable for your eyes at its
native resolution.
My eyes are not what they use to be, so I use a 17" WXGA display. HP
makes a WSXGA display, but the characters were just to small to read
comfortably.

I have a new computer running on Windows XP with an LCD monitor. All fonts
are blurry. I selected Clear Type from the Display
Properties/Appearance/Effects but this resulted in very little improvement.
It's very hard on the eyes. I have set the resolution at 1024x768 the
recommended setting of 1280X1024 is too small.
