Unfortunately, sharp hi-resolution pictures and small highly
compressed files are at odds with each other.
Though newer compression schemes can compress still pictures
by factors of 10 to 30 while retaining most of the *visible*
detail, if much higher degrees of compression are used, the
fidelity of the image will visibly suffer.
In image storage, as in many other areas, "You gets what
you pays for."
To get sharper images in email, you will need to send considerably
larger files.
