Windows XP Home.
At startup a bluescreen flashes for a split second, then the PC re-boots.
The bluescreen has no stop-message. It says that problem was detected and
that I should check for adequate diskspace, check for driver updates, change
video adapter, check for BIOS updates, disable caching and shadowing, and
start in safe mode.
I did not install any new hardware immediately prior to this problem.
Safe mode starts but hangs after statement
"multi(0)disk(0).......\DRIVERS\agp440.sys"
Starting in Safe Mode with networking and with command prompt: same thing.
"Directory Services Restore Mode" starts, but chkdsk stops and hangs in pass
2 of 3.
At first I thought virus but my McAfee subscription and virusdefs are
up-to-date and I contacted McAfee support, who said it is not likely to be a
virus problem.
Please help.
