When i start my computer which has worked before, now i
get the "Blue" screen and the error states,

Unmountable Boot Volume

Any ideas on what this means and how i can correct it?

Boot the computer with your Windows XP CD and choose the Repair
(Recovery Console) option.

When it finishes loading (it may take several minutes) enter the
following command:

CHKDSK /R

Note that if your Windows XP is an OEM "System Recovery" disk then you
probably will not be able to boot to the Recovery Console from it.

In that case you can download the files necessary to create a set of
boot disks for Windows XP. This will create 6 diskettes which you can
then use to boot your computer and then run the Recovery Console. See
the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base for the proper
set of disks for your version of XP:
