Blue Screen

I have a Sony Laptop with XP on. When loading up my
desktop is blank (blue screen) and the only way I can
access programs and files is by CTRL ALT DELETE to bring
the task manager up and using that

Any ideas what is wrong?

Steve, see if you can get into Safe Mode with Command Prompt. Do a
system restore from there.
