blue screen when shutting down

I recently installed Windows XP on a hewlett Packard
machine. When i go to "turn off" it shuts down as
normal, but then automatically restarts. I went to
the "startup and recovery" settings and turned off
the "automatically restart" option whens theres a system
failure. I then tried turning it off and it would
say "windows is shutting down" then switch to a blue
screen saying "A problem has been detected and Windows
has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer."
this is followed by a bunch of other information about a
hardware error (but doesn't say what) and if its the
first time restart windows. I've only upgraded to
windows XP, I havent made any hardware changes, and all
my hardware seems to work fine. Any ideas?

Chris, there's some driver that WinXP doesnt like and it maybe a carry
over from the Upgrade. There maybe a Device
that needs an updated WinXP driver. Does all your hardware have WinXP
drivers?
