Blue screen - system error

Hi - hope you can help

This evening I was using my computer and the line with
the phone/broadband modem was disconnected. Not realizing
this, I tried to move my modem from one usb port to
another.

Instantly, I got a blue screen full of unreadable writing
for less than 1 second and then the computer restarted.
It offered me the chance to send a log to M$ but I wasn't
connected at that point. It said merely at the top of the
box "Your system has recovered from a serious error".

The only thing that appears in the event log as a system
error is

Event Type: Error
Event Source: System Error
Event Category: (102)
Event ID: 1003
Date: 04/07/2004
Time: 21:54:03

Error code 000000d1, parameter1 00000404, parameter2

which means nothing to me? Was it moving the modem that
caused this error? Or what? And what happened?

Everything seems to be working now - event log shows all
normal.

Grateful for any idea what happened!

Regards
