Poho

Recently, I installed a new motheroard because the old was
defective. When I rebooted the computer, I was not able
to go to Windows XP. I have to reinstall/ or repair the
Windows. I tried repair, but could not do it becuase it
stated that the administrator password was incorrect. I
do not have a password set for it.

Well I tried do reinstall, and get a error message:
STOP: 0x0000007e (0xC0000005, 0xF93C2946, 0xF96B4798,
0xF96B4498)

Cdr4_xp.sys - Address F93C2946 base at F93C1000, DateStamp
3b8ed0a5

I can not find anything on this error message. How do I
get past this?

Thanks

Poho, WinXP is looking for all the devices on the old Motherboard that's
why you are having problems. Try removing all
Peripherals and just stick with Motherboard, Ram, CPu, Graphics Card and
Monitor. Go into the Bios and set it to
FailSafe settings. Then try a Repair Install.

Windows drivers will hate you for installing a new
motherboard and trying to boot.

I suggest formatting the hard drive and reinstalling that
way - so put that hard drive in a working machine and get
what data off you need, if you can.

Otherwise, try putting the old motherboard back in,
backing stuff up, then reinstalling windows as described
above.
