Blue Screen of Death in XP? Please help me.

Hi everyone, newbie here. I don't post on PC help boards that much, but
I'm hoping someone here can help me, either by telling me to back up
right now or that my computer's OK. *shrugs* Or even how to fix it.
~_^

I was using my computer earlier tonight (I'm currently using my
sister's computer to post this, because I've never been able to make
mine work with the wireless network, but I digress) when a somewhat
alarming error popped up.

So, I was playing The Sims 2 when less than around two minutes after
I'd booted the game up, its sound stuck, then the screen flashed off.
The Blue Screen of Death then came up, with a message that was
something like "Windows must now shut down to protect the physical
components of your computer," with another note of interest saying to
restart if this was the first time seeing the error, which it was, so I
did. I then immediately turned the computer off and unplugged it in case
there was some actual component damage going on or something.

Is it OK to keep using my computer? Is there any reason why this
message would come up like this?

For some specifics, I'd been using the computer for about four hours,
but I've ran it for six hours before without a shutdown with no
apparent problems. It's a two year old rebuilt Compaq Presario,
integrated chipset, running Windows XP, and with no serious problems
aside from my first monitor going out around a year and a half after
buying it and the usual program errors.

Also, my room is close to 85 degrees Fahrenheit with high humidity even
at night (blame July and August California weather). Does the computer's
having only one in-case cooling fan make it more susceptible to the
temperature?

Please help me.

Heat can affect your pc.
The main text of the error is not as important as the code. If you can
duplicate the shutdown, jot down the description and error code numbers.
It will look something like this;

STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
Of course, yours will be a different set of letters/numbers and the
Thread_Stuck..etc words will be different , but that's what we are looking
for.
