Blue screen of death at every reboot

Last Monday (14th) I started my computer and got a Blue screen of death as
soon as I got to the log on screen, but as soon as it hit the screen it
restarted. I booted up in safe mode with CMD prompt and started my anti
virus, as I suspected it was a virus (this thing kinda happened before). I
scanned 3 times, doing 3 different scans and it found nothing (Im using
Avast! 4.6). I restarted and it let me log on. As soon as I logged on tho, I
was plagued by viruses- here is the list of the infected files:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vsxml.dll
C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exe
C:\Program Files\Windows NT\hypertrm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdll.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\NTDLL.DLL
C:\windows\SERVIC~1\i386\moviemk.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\netshell.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernel32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\KERNEL32.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\KERNEL32.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\KERNEL32.DLL
C:\windows\SERVIC~1\i386\ntdll.dll

The virus that infected them is: Trivial-38-D.
When I got all these viruses, my PC just got over loaded, gave up and went
to the blue screen. Now, each time I boot I get the blue screen. I have used
the Windows Repair Console and reinstalled the MBR and the boot.ini but it
didnt help. I dont know what to do. I have a second PC, to which I have
attached the infected HDD (thats how I got that list of files). If only I
knew a way to access my /Documents and Settings/*User* folders I could
retrive the data that I need and I would have no problem formating the drive,
but whenever I try to access 2 of them (both Admin accounts) I get a "Access
Denied" message and I cant get in. I can access the limited account, the 3rd
one, but not the other 2.
So, my question is: 1)Is there a way to access Admin, password protected,
accounts from another HDD? 2)Is there a way of getting my HDD to work again,
i.e. getting it to boot properly and getting rid of the viruses?
All safe modes DONT work, and when I scan the infected HDD from the other 1
no viruses are picked up. Please someone help me. Any information would be
greatly appreciated. Either contact me here or email me at
(e-mail address removed) (MSN account). Thanks for taking interest.

You need to 'take ownership of files/folders' see win help

If you have an AV app and you received viri then your AV app is'nt worth a
light.

If you can logon to safemode with network support try an online AV scan at
Symantec / McAfee / Kaspersky etc

I tried to do the quote managment thing, but there was no such option to take
over ownership or anything. I dunno how to set it up. What do you mean "If
you have an AV app and you received viri then your AV app is'nt worth a
light."? I dont understand sorry. I cant boot in safe mode, I cant boot in
any mode. It gets to the Windows loading screen and it just restarts. Is
there some sort of program that maybe would let me take over ownership over
the other HDD, to let me access the password protected accounts?

What is the make and model of your computer.

Are you able to get the blue screen and make an exact copy of the error
message and post the exact text of the message here?

Its a Tiny computer. Dunno the model but I know the spec:
P4 1.8GHz
512 MB RAM
80GB HDD

Need anything else?
I cant get the error number. As soon as it hits the blue screen it restarts.
I tried recording the boot up sequence with my video camera but it didnt work
:p

Btw, I managed to gain access to the files that were denied (thx DL). I
typed in 'take ownership of files/folders' into Google and there was a
Microsoft document on how to do it, and I backed up all my data on my 2nd
HDD, so there is nothing stopping me formating the HDD. So dont worry
yourselfves too much about this, coz I think Im gonna format it anyway.
Thx for all your help guys.

Can you access using a boot disk? If yes I suggest you Disable automatic
restart on system failure. This should help by allowing time to write
down the STOP code properly. Right click on the My Computer icon on the
Desktop and select Properties, Advanced, StartUp and Recovery, System
Failure and uncheck box before Automatically Restart.

If not is the stop error occurring before, at or after login? It could
be a virus has changed the password. There exist means to get round that
type of obstacle.

A clean install of Windows XP creates the problem of updating drivers
and the like. Do you have an Windows XP SP2 Disc? It does not
necessarily eliminate all viruses. You may still have the BSOD error.
Clean installing is a destructive approach to your problem. It may
ultimately be necessary but trying other routes to solve the problem
should be properly explored first.

If you can get access to the computer run Stinger from a write protected
floppy. It does not rid the machine of many viruses but provides a base
from which to carry out comprehensive cleaning of the machine. Download
Stinger to another computer and place it on a floppy and then set the
write protect tab. Some viruses disable the anti-virus programme as is
the case on your machine.

Download Stinger from here and run it to make sure that
A-V-disabling viruses are not present on your PC
http://download.nai.com/products/mcafee-avert/stinger.exe

Make sure you run the anti-virus scan in safe mode.

Another option may be to boot Windows from the hard drive if you have
the right disk. I was not able to locate a Manual to ascertain whether
this type of arrangement exists with a Tiny computer. Bart is another
possibility but I am not familiar with the techniques involved.

I cant boot in any safe modes. I could use a boot disk, but I dont have one.
I have the original XP Home Edition CD. Could I use that? If yes, how?
The error occurs as soon as the boot up hits the Windows loading screen
(where you get a little green bar at the bottom of the screen loading). In
safe mode, as soon as it finishes loading all the drivers, it hits the error.
Seriously, I cant do anything, I cant boot at all, nothing works which
involves XP. I can boot from floppies- I have used a Windows Diagnostic Tool
to run some checks to my RAM and a test program that checks the HDD for bad
clusters. I have the SP2 CD, and I can get the drivers- I already formatted
that HDD once and managed to get all my drivers back. I also have the CD's
with the drivers and the programs that are installed on there so I can get
all those back and I backed up my data. The question is will this gurantee
that the PC will be fixed, coz I dont wanna do it if it isnt gonna help.
If there are any programs you can suggest to use, which I can boot from and
use in DOS I would greatly appreciate them. Also, when I move the infected
HDD to my other PC and try to boot from it, it gives me a error saying "No
boot media detected. Please insert a medium and press enter" or something
along those lines. Just to let you know I've been messing around with the
recovery console, and I reinstalled the MBR and the boot.ini file, and I
dunno if that did anything to it.
I also moved a working HDD to the PC that had the infected HDD in it, to see
if it boots from a healthy HDD, but I still get the blue screen. A friend of
mine (IT college teacher) suggested that this is because the system knows
that I havent installed the XP on that HDD using the PC its attached to and
thats why it gives me a blue screen. Is this true?
What can I try, plz give me some tips. Thx for your help guys.

If you boot up in normal mode what is the screen displaying when it
stops? Is there a log in point? Earlier you implied a problem with a
password. Has the situation changed?

In some circumstances you can boot from a CD. It depends on a BIOS
setting. However, do not go tinkering there without a clear idea of what
you have to do otherwise you could make matters worse. The ability to
get so far with a floppy disk to me is encouraging.

Is the hard drive formatted as NTFS or FAT32?

Dont worry anymore mate, I decided to format my HDD and I did and now its
working. I've reinstalled everything on there and got all my files back, as I
backed em up, so its all good:)

One thing Id like to know though is how to restrict users from seeing
certain HDD partitions and hidding them so they physically cant see them?
I've created 4 partitions, 1 for me, for dad, 1 for bro and 1 for windows
files and program files, etc. When I double click on my dads partition I can
go into it and view the folders that are in there, but when I try to double
click on those, I cant, I get access denied message. Also, how do I make it
so that I match a log on name with a certain partition? So that the desktop
and my documents, etc, are on that partition?
