Blue Screen - Multiple IRP Requests

Lost One

My computer blue screens with the error "multiple IRP requests" after almost
any software install. Even after Win XP critical security update and also
after a MS Messenger update. Causes me to use System restore and to trash
the updates as the system reverts. Any ideas welcomed.
