Tried to start my computer today and got the blue screen with a stop:
0x00000050 msg. Computer automatically restarts with the same result. Tried
to restart in safe mode and got the same msg. Cannot get into windows does
this mean a reinstall? Help

I've looked on that site and have been confounded by the fact all of the
instructions to fix problems involve being in windows. The computer wont
even start in safe mode. It starts up and immediatley goes to the blue
screen with the error msg and then tries to restart. Is there a command
prompt I can use?

Bring up the Startup Menu and instead of Safe Mode try using "Last
Known Good Configuration" and see if that works.

Good luck

The problem is ythat at powerup the computer(doorstop) goes to the blue
screenof death and I get a stop 0x50 error msg and then I get the option to
restart in safe mode, safemode with networking, last known settings, or in
regular mode. I have tried all different ways and the computer always goes
to the blue screen of death. How do I get into windows to try and fix the
problem.?

If all of the options on the Startup Menu do not work then your next
step is probably to do a Repair Install as per the instructions at
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Note that if you Windows XP is on a "System Recovery" disk (or in a
hidden System Recovery partition) provided by the computer
manufacturer then you probably will not be able to do a Repair
Install.

Good luck
