Blue Panel on left side of Windows XP desktop

Could someone tell mehow to get rid of the blue panel
that appears on the left side of the Windows XP desktop
and which includes Folder Tasks, Other Places, and
Details pull doen menus. I'd like to see the full screen
without this panel

John, it sounds as though you might be describing the Explorer window rather
than the XP Desktop. If that is the case, simply go to Tools->Folder
Options, on the General tab change Tasks to "Use Windows classic folders".

Hi John,

This happens from changing Desktop Properties. Run this edit to rid of it.

Remove Common Tasks from the Desktop (Line 15)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
