Blocking updated exe

Hi,
wi have a application, that have to be updated sometimes.
Whe do this by copying the new EXE in to the application path.
On all Windows 2000 Workstations this update procedure works properly.
On many Windows XP Workstation the new EXE can`t be opened (An Error Message
appears)
After i start this applicatian as Administrator (using runas option) the new
EXE works properly
even when i work as normal user, until the next update. ...

The users are members of the group users.
How can i unlock the new EXE-files without logon as administrator.

If a program gets updated...does the update not overwrite/add to the
original folder/directory and as such the same EXE file starts the
program????
A new path should not be needed.I mean XP gets updated quite a bit and no
one has ever had to change the path for it to work.I have updated various
programs and never had to change the path.????????????????

The Update only overwrites the old EXE file with the newer EXE file.
by using the copy-command.
The user has change permition in this folder
When the user doubleclick the new EXE-File he gets a error message:
"unexpected error"
The only way to open the EXE file was to execute the file once as
Administrator.
