Blocking sites

I goofed up and responded to an unsolicited email. As a result I am being
inundated with "SPAM". Would like to know if by copying the originating email
websites and pasting them into the "blocked sites" menu under Internet
Options on XP will block emails from coming in. Or is there a way (other than
block sender in Outlook Express which doesn't seem to do a lot of good since
they use different names) to block these people ... like blocking an IP or
something ... Thanks

No. That would prevent IE from making a connection to those sites. It
would have no effect on email sent by them.

Use Tools|Message Rules|Mail in OE to create filters. You're right
that spammers are ingenious in devising ways to outwit filters. It's a
neverending battle.

Thanks Tim, I've always wondered what Message Rules was all about. Think I
got it figured out. Al

Just an observation: "SPAM" is a SPiced hAM product made by Hormel. The
other rendition, "spam," is unsolicited commercial email.

For fun, lurk in the "news.admin.net-abuse.email" newsgroup. Those folk are
rabid! I'll help you get started:

"CARTOONY" a threat by someone whose email is blocked to sic lawyers,
notaries, etc. on the block-list provider. Often they cite "Frea Speach," or
"Restraint of Trade," or some other silliness. These threats are usually
followed by: "I guess a blow-job is out of the question, then."

SPEWS (Spam Prevention Early Warning System - www.spews.org) One such
blocklist (there are many). This one has no phone, no mailing address, no
email capability, and its servers are located in Irktusk, Siberia. There is
no negotiating with SPEWS.

"Collateral Damage" or "Innocent Bystander" - A claim made by those whose
email has been blocked by the actions of another, usually a spammer whose
efforts cause the entire ISP to be blocked. Typical responses to those
whining "I'm not a spammer," include "You live in a crack house and Domino's
don't deliver," or "You expect us to believe you're in the whore house just
to listen to the piano player?"
