I don't know if this is just a coincidence or not but
since I've installed SP2 I'm now getting e-mails which I
can't add to my blocked senders list. When I try I get
the dialog 'One or more of the selected senders could not
be added to your blocked senders list.'
Shouldn't I be the one who decides who goes on my blocked
senders list?

Hi

You may get that error message if the email address you are trying to add
isn't valid.

Hi

I've seen it happen here - either when the email address is invalid, or when
there's no email address at all.

What about a patch/option to block e-mails from all
invalid e-mail addresses then? Or is this already in
Outlook somewhere. Can't see it in the Rules dialog...

Hi

I'm not sure how the Rules are used in Outlook, I use Outlook Express. Is
there any info. in the Help file?

Sorry, I meant Outlook Express. Can't see anyway of
blocking malformed/invalid e-mail addresses from the
Create Rule Dialog. This feels like a hole in my
security, which is currently being exploited a lot.

There are other options. If the recipient address is not exactly your
real address, then you can block based on the recipient. This works
well for home use, but in business use you might need to set a specific
recipient permission for bulletins, newsletters, etc. Block sender is
the last I would use since spammers do not typically use the same sender
address or name more than once. I use delete as the block mode and have
the trash set to manual so I can review the contents and update the list
as needed.
