Block Flashplayer Ads?

I need a way to block Flash Player 7 advertising,
especially the sound which is disruptive to music or
silence. I could find only the following from Microsoft
which seems to indicate I cannot stop them from loading.

Windows XP already includes Internet Explorer 6, but
installation of Internet Explorer 6 is supported on
Windows XP to allow customizations (branding). As a
result, the Internet Explorer Exception Pack is also
installed on Windows XP, because this component is not
included with Windows XP.

Versions of Internet Explorer customized with the IEAK by
your Internet service provider, Internet content
provider, or your corporate administrator can be
installed on Windows XP so that customizations (branding)
are applied. The Install Minimal, or customize your
browser option is not available when you install Internet
Explorer 6 on a Windows XP-based computer. As a result,
the Component Options dialog box is not available, and
therefore you cannot select individual Internet Explorer
components.
Are we doomed to be assaulted by these commercials?

Hi,
See: Disable Flash: http://faq.ozoneasylum.com/446/
I've used Free Surfer from http://www.kolumbus.fi/eero.muhonen/FS/fs.htm
(recommended on that page) It works well.
A little trickier to set up, but I also use a HOSTS file to block Flash and
other pop-ups from sites I visit regularly.
See: The Hosts File (Gorilla Design Studio): http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/

Hope this helps,
Don
