Blinking PNGs in PowerPoint Xp

I working on a presentation that has multiple PNGs on each slide (some
animate, others do not). When I select a slide from slide sorter and go
directly to it to edit, the PNGs all blink rapidly, almost like powerpoint is
constantly refreshing the view of the slide. It's a problem that comes and
goes, regardless of restarting PPT or my machine. Has any one experienced
this problem and if so, was there anything that you've done to help the
situation?

I'm running Powerpoint XP SP3 on a laptop loaded with Win XP Professional.
(I've also had this issue on a machine running XP Home). I've got 2.0 Ghz
processor (Centrino), 2 gigs RAM and an Nvidia Geforce Go 6800 (256 megs
dedicated video RAM) on my Dell Inspirion 9300.

First thing I would do is see if there is an updated driver for your video
card. Next I'd make certain I had the latest version of DirectX installed.

First try updating all video card drivers. If this doesnt help then notch
back graphics accelleration. You can do this by right clicking the desktop
then properties >settings >advanced >troubleshoot (make sure that you dont
choose the first troubleshoot you see!)

Slide the slider right back left and check. If all is now OK increase a
notch at a time.

Thanks for the replies! Video card drivers are the most current available.
DirectX is not however, so I'll try that first.

I honestly would have never thought about scaling back the graphics
accelleration. I think I'll do this for editting and than bump it back up
when running show.

5.72.22.21I also have the same problem. It seems related to the number of
complex slides, especially with Visio graphics embedded. For smaller slide
presentations, a reboot will help for a time. In big presentations the
problem is permenant.

What graphics drivers are you using? I have Dell w/ Nvidia Quadro NVS 110M
Driver 8.3.1.3 1/19/2006 Bios 5.72.22.21.D1

This is such a common occurance for me, I thought I would see a wealth of
similar posts. Nothing on Technet. 1 post here.

Hello-

I was running Dell 9400's with Nvidia GeForce 6800's, reg hacked running
desktop card drivers, but I've seen this with alot of laptops, regardless of
the video solution.
The only solution I've found that works across the board is to scale back
hardware acceleration, just like John Wilson suggested. Hope that helps you.
