Blank system restore and search companion

hi,

I had problem with norton system works 2004 pro. for a long time. I tried
to fix it but the problem was there then I uninstalled it and delted whatever
symantec was in the windows registry!!!!.

then i got some problems such as blank screen when I do system restore and
when i want to use the search companion. I reinstalled win xp home sp1 they
were o.k for a while but again they became blank.

I did a search for any spyware using ad-aware and spybot they found some and
i fixed them but the problem is still there.

I would appreciate any comments.

hi,
that page is for blank area in the left side of the "Choose a Restore
Point" window. System restore window in my computer is all blank and what
about search companion? I must add that i did reinstall search comapanion but
it did not work either.

Why doesn’t search work?


Click Start, Run, then type in: regsvr32 /i browseui.dll
Press Enter
Then type in: regsvr32 /i shell32
Press Enter

or
Click Start, Run, then type in: regsvr32 /i C:\windows\srchasst\srchui.dll
Press Enter

hi,

i tried your advice for search: they succeeded otger than shell32 and i got
this message:

LoadLibrary(shell32) failed-The specified module could not be found.

oops sorry i had put a dot between shell and 32....this time succeeded.

and i am gonna try your links..thanks but so far no luck for both problems.

Ramesh, I did reinstall xp again and right now everything is o.k..but i will
keep in my mind your advice for the next time.
