Blank Screen, Flashing Cursor

I have a W2K PC that when started, goes through the BIOS and then stops and
displays a blank screen with a flashing cursor. I've tried doing a repair
with the W2K CD and have re-seated the cables in the case, but nothing has
helped. I even re-installed Windows and got nothing.

I had this problem on another PC last week and was unable to fix it also.
What I did do that worked was to shut it down for an hour and start it back
up. After being off for an hour, it worked fine.

Anybody have an idea what is wrong? I don't want to have to leave the power
off for an hour and hope the PC comes back to life.

Thanks,

John

There isn't a floppy or CD-Rom left in a drive that it's trying (and
failing) to boot from, is there?

Try this:
1. Boot to Recovery Console
2. Run "FixMBR"

Thanks for the tip, but it had no effect.

Check your Boot BIOS settings and make sure that you have selected a boot
device
