Blank IE page displayed when I click a link in email/news

Howdy!

When I click a link within an email message in Outlook
(my mail program) or Outlook Express (my news client),
the browser (IE6) launches but only a blank browser
window appears. There's no error message, no hour glass,
no nothing.

There is no address listed in the address bar of the
browser like you would normally see when you click a link
in email.

The only way I can access the link is to cut and paste
the link from the email message into the browser.

Links within web pages load just fine.

Ideas?

Thanks for the attempt. I'm sorry I didn't say that I
already tried this. Just for giggles, I tried it again.
The knowledgebase article says that the symptoms
are "When you click on a hyperlink 'nothing' happens."

This is not the case with this issue as "something" does
happen: A browser windows does open but it displays a
blank page.

Any other suggestions are apprecaited.
