Blank Device Manager and other problems

Veli Izzet

Hi all,

Windows XP SP2 and all the hotfixes.

For sometime when I click My Computer it takes at least 30 sec. to show
something, the Device Manager is empty, and my system does not see the
external wireless adapter.

Plug-and-play service is automatic and is started, and I cannot apply
aproposfix becouse my laptop (Compaq Evo N800v) does not boot into safe
mode (Hangs at agp440.sys).

I need help,

Thanks for answers..

In addition to the good information Anando gave you, we saw a rash of
posts about this in this newsgroup a while ago. The problem was caused
by the Apropos malware and solved by running the utility referenced in
the forum post link below.

AproposFix - http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14679793
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/aproposfix.exe

It would also be good for you to do general malware scanning afterwards
