i have windows 2000 xp
i was restoring my comp because i thought i may have removed something from
it! i am green to xp, well i clicked on thw 31st of 2005 and said restore. i
waited for 30 mins to an hour and nothing happen, so i unplugged the comp and
then restarted it and the message "we opolgize for the inconvience but you
lost power supply.
and gave me choices, safe mode, normal and etc. i tried all of the choices
and kept getting a black screen, before that the windows came up and seem to
load but then the black screen, i can move my mouse around but cant see
anything!
cant find the xp disk or the wins disk, frankly i never had it because i
bought the comp from a friend, that lost the disk,it also has a cd burner. i
had to use my wins 98 to get on line for help.is there anyone that knows a
trick to do or something? my daughter has xp 2000 and do you think i can use
that to get mine working?or a free download for winds 2000 xp?
ty for your time and troubles

Do you have Windows 2000, or Windows XP? They are two different operating
systems. If you are using Windows XP, then you should try the newsgroup
specific to that operating system.

Windows 2000 does not have "system restore" That leaves Windows XP.
Without the CD that the "friend" neglected to give you, you have a
doorstop. Contact the friend, get the CD, and then post your question in
the group for Windows XP.

I dunno, she could have ME. ME also had restore points and a LOT of people
confuse Millennium Edition with Windows 2000.

Well, without the disk, there aren't too many options. Unless your friend
can find the CD, you might want to just go out and buy a new copy of Windows
XP, and get your own license while you're at it. Reinstall Windows. After
installation, store the CD and all documentation in a *safe* place for
future reference!

I'm beginning to think this person has Windows ME with Office XP. At any
rate, this is the wrong group.
