black screen

have windows 2000 xp
i was restoring my comp because i thought i may have removed something from
it! i am green to xp, well i clicked on thw 31st of 2005 and said restore. i
waited for 30 mins to an hour and nothing happen, so i unplugged the comp and
then restarted it and the message "we opolgize for the inconvience but you
lost power supply.
and gave me choices, safe mode, normal and etc. i tried all of the choices
and kept getting a black screen, before that the windows came up and seem to
load but then the black screen, i can move my mouse around but cant see
anything!
i was told that i submitted in the wrong place ,so i thought i would try
here!!

cant find the xp disk or the wins disk, frankly i never had it because i
bought the comp from a friend, that lost the disk,it also has a cd burner. i
had to use my wins 98 to get on line for help.is there anyone that knows a
trick to do or something? my daughter has xp 2000 and do you think i can use
that to get mine working?or a free download for winds 2000 xp?

Hi Melissa,

You need a WinXP disk. For starters, you need to load the Recovery Console
and run a disk check. You may also need it to run a repair installation.

Hi,

For the recovery console, sure. For the repair install, only if it's the
same type of CD and you use your own product key.
