First, thank you to all the very knowledgeable and generous people who
provide such great info on this forum....
Before installing Windows XP SP2, I was experiencing the problem described
in KB 328934 ("Windows XP stops responding (hangs) when you log off the
computer if more than one user is logged on" -
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=328934)
As described in 328934, if more than one user is logged on and one logs off,
the system does proceed to save data and log the user off, but then the
screen goes black and the system is unresponsive. I can recreate the problem
by as is decribed in 328934:
- You log on to the computer as one user.
- You switch to another user without logging off as the first user.
- You run a program in the context of the first user.
- You log off the computer as the second user.
I saw that this problem was addressed in the fixes of SP2
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;811113), however I
continue to have this problem consistently even after installing SP2. My only
way around it is to just not log off!
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
