Black Buttons?

When we turn on the computer, we just get a black screen
but the cursor is clear. Then when the menu finally
comes up, most of the buttons, including "Start" are black.

I've run Norton (not easy with black buttons) and it
didn't detect any viruses.

Any clue?
 
Hi Mike,

Some have noted that this has happened from a recent MS update.
