Black and white tv-out in vista!

I got two graphic cards, a Radeon 9700 pro AGP and my newer one Radeon x1950
AGP. They have 7-pin out port to which i connect a 4-pin cable and into a
s-video<->scart converter into my tv.
In WinXP i had no problem with either of the cards, but now in Vista i don't
get any color when trying to use tv-out on the x1950 card, so i have to
change it with the 9700pro to get color on the tv-out.
I also get bluescreens quite often when i've switched from the 9700 to the
x1950, and have to change drivers and whatnot, but that i can live with.
I've tried changing to all kinds of signal formats (M/NTSC, M(Japan)/NTSC
and B, D, G, H, I, K, L, M and N/Pal all giving black and white)

Anyone got any clue?

It certainly appears to be a card or card driver problem since what is
happening is that the card or its driver is not sensing the proper impedance
over the S-Video Chroma(color) connector so it is merging the Chroma and
brightness signals together and is sending out composite video using the
brightness connection and is sending nothing on the Chroma connection .
Your TV does not realize this so it only displays B&W.
Have you tried a different cable since once when I had this problem it
turned out that I had a bent pin on the color connector on one end.
What driver release from the ATI/AMD Website are you using for your x1950
card.

I haven't tried another cable, was hoping that i wouldn't have to buy a new
one. I checked the cable and there was no bent pins atleast, and since its
working with the 9700 card i assume its some software problem.
I was using 7.9 and just noticed there is 7.10 out so going to give that a
try, but i'd guess it wont solve my problem, will write something here if it
does solve the problem!

I actually suspect that card itself has a faulty connector since I have not
seen any other reports of the problem you are having being caused by the
driver but the 7.10 release should be tried. You could also get an
inexpensive S-Video to composite adapter and use composite to your TV. The
downside of this solution is poorer picture quality.

Tried 7.10 driver but still black and white, guess i'll have to buy the DVI
-> S-Video/Composite cable for $70 i saw and try it, that should work.

Make sure that the cable specs state that it will work with your 9700 card.

I have a similar problem. My CRT-TV shows colors during the initial start-up
phase, but when I have logged in, there are no colors on the TV (there are
colors on the monitor). I didn't have this problem a few days ago, so it
must be a driver problem. ATI X1700SE.

Your graphics card is not sensing the proper impedance on the chroma/color
pin of the S-Video interface from your TV so it is defaulting to composite
over the S-Video connector. You might have to use composite by connecting an
S-Video to composite adapter to your S-Video output unless there is some
other way to tell your graphics card driver to always use the full S-Video
interface and not to try and sense it automatically.
