bkf corrupt file

when i try to restore a .bkf file i did with xp ntbackup utility, this is the error i get: "The backup file contains unrecognized data and cannot be used
How can i repair the .bkf file to restore my data? exist any software to repair corrupt .bkf file
Please help me..
