Bizarre TFT Screen Problem (ViewPanel VG175)?

My screen has just started to blank out every 4 minutes or so for
about 1 second. It comes back and performs perfectly except for this
drop out.

The monitor power (on) light goes out and the power light on the power
supply also goes out.

I disconnected the power supply from the monitor to check to see
whether the power supply light would go out when there was no load but
it remained on suggesting that the power supply is fluctuating?

Could this be a monitor, video card or power supply problem?

There is no wiring problem (short circuit, damaged cables..) as far as
I can tell.

Any ideas?

If you've got a multimeter you can test to see if the power adapter is
putting out what it should. If not you might be able to find a compatible
adapter at radio shack (same voltage, amperage, and polarity).

Cheers for that.

I am currently running a test.

The machine crunches data for seti 24/7 so normally though the screen
is switched off I never bother with the separate power supply for the
screen.

Last night I switched that off and have switched it back on this
afternoon.

I'm waiting to see if the problem reoccurs and after what period. (To
check for heat or capacitance problems.)

After that I'll start the other tests..

Shame as this TFT monitor is otherwise excellent and so much better
than my old CRT ones.

I am currently running a test.

Finished the testing and in the end reckon the power supply is
overheating.

The monitors off and on cycle takes a couple of hours to start if I
switch off the supply and allow it to cool down for at least 30
minutes.

Now I have opened up the power supply case to the air (allowing it to
stay cooler) I have had no cycling in the past 10 hours.

For now that's OK but will need a new power supply ASAP.

Cheers to those who gave suggestions.
