Bizarre HDD Problem

Mr Power

Got a bit of a strange hdd problem, that I would appreciate help with.

I have a samsung 1604N 160Gb Harddrive.

Has always worked fine and recognised as 160Gb, but the other day
I reformatted and since then I've been having strange problems.

Bios recognises it as exactly 120Gb when plugged directly into the
motherboard.

Also recognised as 120Gb when connected through a USB2 External Case.

Tried all configurations of jumper settings including the limiting and
unlimiting
to 32Gb.

I realise there is a bios/windows issue with 48bit LBA drives which causes
a limit around 137 Gb, but I don't think this is it because windows shows it
as *exactly* 120Gb (111.79Gb). I have a seagate 200Gb and it works fine,
I have a fairly new motherboard, and Windows SP2 installed.

Would appreciate any more suggestions before I RMA the thing.

Thanks for all the help guys it is much appreciated.

I figured out what was wrong with it myself,
installed the maintenance tool, and went into UDMA
and it tells me "your hard disk size is set different to
native size" (how that happened god only knows).

It's all sorted anyway.
