Birthdays and Anniversaries

I have a load of contacts which have been set up with anniversaries and
birthdays.
I would like to set up reminders in the calendar for these dates (or at
least for a hefty number of them).

Is there an easy way of doing this other than creating a blank event for
each one?

I had hoped that by dragging the contact entry to the calendar it might
have given me an easier way of doing this, but it assumes that you want
to create a meeting.....

Try right-clicking and dragging to the Calendar...you should get several
options for creating the new appointment or event based on the contact info.
