Birthday and Anniversarys dont' show up

W

Wesley

Hi everyone
I used to be able to input a birthday or anniversary into the field of a
Contact and these would show up on the calendar (as a recurring "All Day
Event"). They no longer do and I cannot figure out why. I have searched
Microsoft (and ended up here) and with Google with no luck.

As far as I can tell I have not changed any settings on PC. I'm running
Vista Business (and extremely happy with it) with auto updates turned on,
Office 2007 and I also sync with TyTNII.

Previously I was using the TyTN II to sync with both this computer (home)
and work computer. I ceased this a while back as the work computer is
running Outlook 2002 (WinXP) and it can't seem to handle daylight savings and
was screwing up my "All Day Events" (on TyTN II and home computer they
appeared to span two days - from 0100 to 0100) that spanned the Nov-Mar
daylight savings period!! I ceased the double syncing a couple of months ago
now, but as I don't enter a birthday every day I'm not sure if it coincided
with the problem or not. I'm hoping this isn't the issue as I don't feel
like rebuilding my PC again.

This is driving me crazy and any ideas advice would be greatly appreciated.
However, please don't suggest I add birthdays/anniversaries as manual
recurring entry into calendar (I know I can do this, but would like to fix
the problem, not work around it).

Thanks

If you display your calendar in a by category view, do the birthdays show
up?

Often, synching will mess with certain Outlook settings like the Contact
File as function, but I have not seen synching mess with birthdays showing
in the calendar.

Hi Milly
No the contact birthdays in question do not show up in any views. I can
view by categorys, annual events, active appointments etc and a lot of
existing birthdays do show up, but the ones I've added recently do not show
up.

It is very frustrating. I was hoping someone might know of a setting or
something I had inadvertantly turned off.

I have noticed on Microsoft website that they advertise a plug-in by third
party to do this exact thing, but I don't want to fork over 10 Euros for
something that Outlook already does. Beside I like to keep to my PC as lean
as possible as far as add-ins from different sources go. I'd prefer just to
stick to MS stuff if possible.

Thanks
Wes.

If you create a new item in outlook, is the birthday added to the calendar?

Hi Diane
No, they do not show up.

I can add a birthday to an existing contact and it doesn't show up. I can
add a new contact (including birthday) and the birthday doesn't show in the
calendar. I have also tried adding a new contact into the phone, synced and
the birthday for the contact doesn't show in calendar either.

The birthday data is definately in the contact as I can see it in the
Details View and also in the All Fields (Personal Fields) veiw.

Thanks for trying. I will keep looking around at this end.

Wes.
