I'm building a computer from a barebones kit that has the above
mentioned m7ncd motherboard. Amd 3200 cpu,512 crucial ddr,maxtor 160
gig hd, 400 w pwr supply, and a g force video card. I cannot get
windows xp pro to load. I've tried differant motherboard, memory, video
card, hard drive, and pwr supply. It will try to copy and come up with a
couple of differant errors and shut down. Really getting frustrating.
I'm no rookie but I'm also no wizard and have tried about everything I
know to do. Any ideas before the chainsaw comes out. Thanks in advance.

When you say you can't get it to load, what do you mean? Do you mean that
the XP install CD won't boot? Or do you mean that after installed, XP won't
run? There's a huge difference there. Either way, more details are needed
to troubleshoot this one. What have you done, and what was the exact
result? -Dave

Call Microsoft and use your free tech support that came with Windows. They
will figure it out in a fraction of the time you will spend answering
questions here and sifting through the replies. I had the same problem
once and they narrowed it down within minutes.

with no real data to go on, I would say that either your

ROM IS BAD
CD is damaged
memory problem.

When I start to load XP I have used both maxtor software to format and
windows to format. Also have tried formating differant size
partitions. The computer will boot from the cd and start to load the
files to load windows from. I have 2 disks (XP) and both do the same.
They will get to a certain file ie...luna and say it cannot load file
try again and it will load ok till the next file hangs up. Once all the
files are loaded windows starts loading, It get all the way to the end,
3 or 4 minutes left and then come up with an irql less or not equal
windows is shutting down to protect computer. Or a memory error.
The memory was checked on another computer and have tried other. The
hard drive formats and installs windows on another computer. Heat is
not an problem. I'm sure I have a setting (bios) wrong somewhere but I
can't find it. aaaahhhhhhh
Everyone needs a hobby and if it wasn't so cold I would just go
fishin!!!!! Thanks for any and all ideas

Set my bus speed back to 100 and turned off shadowing and a few more
settings including reset config and finally got windows to load. Reset
my bus speeds and loaded drivers for mo bo. I updated to service pack 1
and system is so unstable it won't run for 5 minutes without rebooting
and a blue screen. Wont download service pack 2 , memory management
problems. Wont run an application, irql less than problems. Ready to
buy a soyo or gigabyte or something. Don't have time for this. Anybody
wanna buy a motherboard??????

Offhand, I would suspect the power supply.

Have replaced original Ultra ddr with no name ddr then with Crucial
ddr. Same results with all three. I'm really wondering about the cpu.
It's the only part I haven't replaced. I've never had a bad AMD cpu
before and have had 20 or 25 of them but there is always a first time.

What make is PSU? Unknown brands can be very dodgy.

Thermaltake pure power, but it was also replaced. I'm waiting on a new
cpu. The good people at AMD told me that was the most probable cause.
Will try and if that don't work I will have one very expensive foot
stool,or anchor.

Have you tried running only one stick of memory? The last bios update
was supposed to improve dual channel memory stability so there may be
a problem.

I'm following this because I have an M7NCD Pro on the way from
newegg. The first one they shipped had a rom bios checksum error and I
couldn't flash it to fix it.

Well we all learn new things every day. I have learned that just
because it never was the cpu don't mean that it can't be the cpu!
Installed my new 3200 cpu and powered up. Installed sp2 and it's really
working great. I cannot get it to fault out at all now and I'm trying.
Thank all of you good people for your ideas and input. Finally I can
get some sleep without thinking "well maybe if I do this or that it
might work" when I lay down. Good luck on your m7ncd pro. From what I
can tell it seems like a good mb. Again Thanks to all.
