Buy a better PC?

Looks good for the money - however, if you could stretch to a better video
card it would make a big difference - if you read the threads here on the
FX5200 you'll see its not a much liked card. Also if you could get an AT-133
hard drive (Maxtor or Seagate probably will cost the same as the Hitachi)
I have two systems both 7200rpm HDD but I can notice the lower speed of the
ATA-100 compared to the 133...

Should also point out that the nForce 2 board uses dual channel memory so
you need 2x256mb ram rather than one 512mb stick - just in case :)
Also you do not mention what case you are using - if it does not have a
see-through side maybe you could save some money on the PSU with LED fan.
Even if you do have see-through side, you could always bung in an LED
exhaust fan under the PSU for the same effect...

Wow I think it's a great deal - 199.99 US Dollar (USD) = 110.614 British
Pound (GBP)
I just spent that much on a XP2400 CPU and a power supply!

Most of the stuff is from brands I'd never buy, but don't worry too
much, I believe in the principle "If it works, it works, even if it's
cheap" so by all means go ahead and try it.

But: If you're interested in gaming, your video is seriously
underbalanced. Consider instead in advancing order:
R9600 - R9600pro - R9600XT - FX5900XT - R9800pro.
There's nothing wrong with the FX5200, (it's a good choice for the
money, and IMO better than its reputation), except that it's cheap and
too wimpy to make any above-1GHz-cpu justice on games. And don't buy
any ATI "-SE" card either. They're worse.

("XT" - designation is budget version for nVidia, and supercharged
for ATI. Sorry for the confusion, but it's not my fault. Some
manufacturers are using 'SE' for nVidia 'XT' -chipset cards. Intent
is probably to be more *clear*, but it just adds to the confusion. )

Shave off money from your cpu and chipset, if you have to. You might
find some of the money to a better videocard by backing off to
2200-2400 and KT600. For gaming you'll still get a much better machine
with, like a ATI R9600pro.
