BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter currently in development at Irrational Games, the studio behind the original BioShock (which sold over 4 million units worldwide). Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative and gameplay experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky. Former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt has been sent to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned in Columbia since childhood. Booker develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.

Very interesting... I loved Bioshock 1&2, so I'll no doubt be a sucker and snap this up when it comes out ;)

The storyline sounds quite deep and something that would hold a gamers attention - which is a big plus when combined with good gameplay. Arg... 2 years to wait!

Wow, that looks like it's going to be a novel (and fun!) game :D. The graphics look incredible, and it is quite a departure from the BioShock 1/2 game, so I'm pleased they've not re-hashed anything.

Have you seen any more about possible release dates?

Loved the first two.

Bioshock 3 has shifted the goalposts.

I just hope gameplay is not dependant on aerial combat cos if there's one game genre I am absolute crap at, it's flight sims.

Just call me CEO of Buddy Holly airlines :)

Still, it's two years off, I ain't gonna get too excited.

BioShock Infinite

I've been waiting a long time for this game as I loved Bioshock 1/2 :thumb:

Set in 1912 during the era of American Exceptionalism, the game's protagonist, former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, is sent to the floating air-city of Columbia to find a young woman, Elizabeth, who has been held captive there for the last twelve years. Though Booker rescues Elizabeth, the two are pursued by the city's warring factions; the nativist and elite Founders that strive to keep the city for pure Americans, and the Vox Populi, a rebel grouping representing the common people. Booker finds Elizabeth to be central to this conflict, and that she also holds strange powers to manipulate rifts in the time-space continuum that ravage Columbia.

Here's the official site: http://www.bioshockinfinite.com/ and a 15 min gameplay trailer:

I've pre-ordered on Amazon already (£27.84 at the moment) as it will activate on Steam (and no doubt cheaper than Steam's launch price).

Anyone else looking forward to this? :D

Bioshock 1 and 2 are probably my most completed games ever. I played through over and over trying to do everything. There both as good as each other so I have no doubts the third installment will be epic.

So it not long til this is out now... :)

However, its not even out and already you can buy a Season Pass for £15... :/

DLC. I hate you.

On the plus side, this looks like it wont be a straight up console port! :thumb:

Are you looking forward to playing BioShock Infinite on PC? We had the opportunity to ask Ken Levine and technical director at Irrational Chris Kline a few questions about how the PC version will differ from the console versions as well as about possible support for Oculus Rift and Steam Box.
Skip to the bottom of the story for the minimum and recommended hardware configurations of BioShock Infinite. If you don't know what BioShock Infinite is check out IGN's impressions of the first few hours of the game.

Hardcore: BioShock Infinite Has ’1999 Mode’

Irrational Games have just announced a new play mode that will be appearing in BioShock Infinite. Called 1999 Mode, it’s aimed at appealing to those who think games have become too easy. Ken Levine explains, “We want to give our oldest and most committed fans an option to go back to our roots,” adding that 1999 Mode means that you’ll face more permanent consequences from their choices you make, and force you to stick with the specialisations you choose.

Levine continues,
“I’m an old school gamer. We wanted to make sure we were taking into account the play styles of gamers like me. So we went straight to the horse’s mouth by asking them, on our website, a series of questions about how they play our games. 94.6 percent of respondents indicated that upgrade choices enhanced their BioShock gameplay experience; however, 56.8 percent indicated that being required to make permanent decisions about their character would have made the game even better.”
The mode will also require tougher management of your health, weapons and powers, with an actual “Game Over” screen appearing if you die without the resources to bring yourself back to life.
What are those consequences, and how much impact will it have on the game you’re being told? We should be able to bring you much more information about that tomorrow.
