XP Home Edition SP2: I was installing a printer and it was taking forever. I
called task manager and saw that "bigfix.exe" chewing up some memory. I
googled it and there are mixed reactions there: Some say leave it alone if
not giving error messages, some say get rid of it. Greatis.com says it's a
resource hog - that's the part I don't like. So, ladies and gentlemen please
tell me what do you think. Thank you all for your time.

Bigfix is supplied by some major computer companies. I have found it to be
mostly useless. It accomplishes nothing that you can not do manually!

bigfix.exe relates to BigFix installed to a Windows computer, probably
an OEM computer. If you have this directory, C:\Program Files\BigFix,
BigFix has been installed or used to be installed. Go to the Add/Remove
Programs to uninstall BigFix. I had it installed on my emachine system
and I uninstalled it.
