Big problems with BCM 07

Good Day,
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. If I can't get these issues
resolved, we're going to have to resort back to ACT - which I don't want to
do!

We use BCM on 4 computers. One is our psuedo-server (pc-pc) which is where
the database is stored, sharing with our other 3 pcs.

About a week or so ago, we started getting all sorts of errors. The db
would say it was detected, but still unable to connect each time any of us
tried. I tried restoring backups made, but they all resorted in errors and
would not restore.

I took my offline database and exported it (in an effort to save all of my
work) and tried to reinstall it on the server as a new database. This
resulted in some field errors, which I was ok with as they were not
important, but when I compared the two dbs they were totally off with missing
business contacts in accounts just off the top of my review.

Also, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it - The SQL server
update pack will not install. I've been trying for months, contacted
Microsoft and they could not explain nor get it to work.

SO - can anyone tell me 1. How can I repair/restore my old db? or 2. Can
I merge my old with the new one I created to harness all of the data/changes,
etc.?
3. How can I keep this from recurring again?

Please help, I would really like to keep BCM, but I'm losing the battle with
my coworkers....

It's difficult to know what to advise you without knowing what's
wrong. Since all the client machines appear to have the same problem,
the problem is probably on the server. Did you install any software on
the server between when you could connect to Sql and now? Any security
software that may have turned off ports in the firewall? Everyone
change passwords that day?

Can BCM running on the server machine connect to the database?

Yes, on the server (not sure if I mentioned this is just another PC, not a
true server) the db connects.

I have gone back several backups and found one that will restore without
errors. However, how can I merge my offline db with this version to not lose
my changes made since that backup was created?

We are in the process of moving our entire system to our corporate peak-10
server. Does anyone feel this will cause any problems, or possibly resolve
my problems?
