I get "Cannot copy filename The path is too big" when I
ty to copy a 5G file from a USB 2.0 drive to my C:. It
works fine the other direction, that is, from the C drive
to the USB it works fine.

Thanks
JG

Hi, John.

Your drives are NOT FAT32, are they? FAT32 can't handle a file bigger than
4 GB.

And if it's really the PATH that's too long, then your Subject line is
misleading. Since you gave us no clue, just how long is your path? Both of
them?

Sorry,

NTFS drives. I am drag and dropping file icon from usb
drive to C:. It works in the opposite direction i.e. the
file is transferred succesfully through drag and drop.

Thanks
JG

See earlier post about 255 character limit on path. Are you trying to copy
to a sub-sub-sub... directory, and using a long name on the file? The error
message you are quoting says nothing about file size, it's where you're
copying too that appears to be the problem.

If your C: is a FAT 32 file system, the largest file it can take is just
under 4 GB. You would need to convert it to NTFS - see
