Big blank space on page

D

Dan Schaffer

Hi

I use Word 2000 running in Win 2000. Occasionally I will
find that a Word document contains a blank space, as much
as two-thirds of a page. I can't find a paragraph sign to
delete to remove the space. This seems expecially likely
to happen in outlines.

Many thanks in advance.

Check the following. They're in most-likely to least-likely order, methinks

--See if any of your text has headings applied, and the heading is formatted for "page break before" (find that under Format-Paragraph, Line & page breaks tab)

--Check for space before and after paragraphs (Format-Paragraph, Spacing)

--Make sure the vertical alignment is set to Top (Format-Page layout, Layout tab)

--Hit Alt+F9 to see if there's anything like a picture that's just not showing up. You'll see a code. Don't forget to hit Alt+F9 again to turn viewing codes off or you'll be out for my hide later

<-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-
Hope this helps

In addition to the causes Dreamboat mentions, if the space is at the bottom
of a page (rather than in the middle), check paragraphs for "Keep with next"
formatting, which can cause large blocks to jump to the next page. See
