Have Syware Nuker 2005 on my computer and a scan this
morning showed 17 cookies and 2 "Hijackers" in my
registrey. Unfortunately my subscription had expired and
it couldn't remove these ad/spyware. I downloaded MS
Spyware Beta, ran a scan, and it showed "0" ad/spyware.
Why the difference in the detections? Is this beta
version worthless?

Hi PIjoe;
Perhaps your question would be better phrased "is SpywareNuker 2005
worthless?" This software comes from a company with a questionable
background, although they apparently cleaned up their act somewhat in the
2004 release. Prior to that point, they had an relationship with adware
distributors and were known to display false positives in order to sell
their product. I don't have any information on the 2005 release, but as
Andre indicates above, you should double check the SpywareNuker positives
with other anti-spyware... and MSAS does NOT detect cookies at this point.
It usually doesn't hurt to run more than one anti-spyware application.
For more information on SpywareNuker see this site, particularly the
SpywareNuker notes under De-Listed Applications at the middle of the page:

Regards, Dave
