Best way to retrieve mails from pst files

Hi!
I have been backing up my Outlook info into pst files since Office 95. By
now I have approx 15 pst files. Obviously plenty of information is
duplicated.
Q1: what is the best way to retrieve mails (received and sent) from all the
pst files and save the total information in a single file?
Q2: what measure should I take after this to ensure smooth working of my
Outlook XP.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

I'd leave them in their separate PST files since it should be quicker to
manage since smaller PSTs are quicker & less likely to damage.

You advice Vince is reasonable. But I actually need to look for couple of
mails from 1999 or so, which means I would need to import mails into In- and
Sent Boxes to avoid duplicate mails. Normally several Personal Folders are
created. Can I delete them once I have exported and/or archived the new
informatiion?
Thanks.
