It might help to explain in a sentence or two what Mathlab is and how it
works. We may know of the very thing you need, but may never have heard of
Mathlab.
Not really very familiar with Mathematica, but I would say that none of them
are.
Matlab is at its root a(numerical analysis) equation solver. I think that
Mathematica is more general purpose than that.
Octave and Scilab are the closest to Matlab
R is primarily a statistical tool
Maxima and MuPAD Light are Computer Algebra Systems
Ascend is a Chemical Process Modeling System
