Best graphics card I can use.

Hi,

My system has a Celeron 2700 MHz, 512 MB RAM (256 @ 2100, 256 @ 2700),
and a £20 ($35) sound card. Recently I installed an ATI Radeon 9200
SE which really showed a performance increase from the on board
graphics (as you yould expect).

How good a graphics card could I put in before the CPU became the
bottleneck in my system?

Thanks

Nick

You could fly all the way to the moon and the AGP card wouldn't overtake the
CPU.

That is of course if you play lots of games. If not why bother as the AGP
card isn't really slowing down the system

You could spluge on the top-of0the0line AGP video card but are you willing
to spend $400-$600 USD on a video card that will only work on your current
slow system, which is getting "old". I would save the money know and wait
until I could but a "true" P4 based system. Newer system would be running @
3.5 GB with 4GB RAM and would have the PCI Express (PCIe) slots for the
newer super graphics card.

Depends mostly on the game engine and graphics used. Visit some of the
"video card" forums for the latest.

most newer graphics cards have their own processor and memory; hence taking
the load off the main CPU.
