best configuration for XP

Im a day trader and my trading programs run best on XP. Im in the process of
purchasing a new computer with Quad Core?

is Quad Core a good setup for XP, I would like to have minimum of 2 screens .
The programs are designed for data feed and number calculations. I have 20
different charts configured on 2 screens running all day. I also have 10-20
different markets I watch simutaneously with one computer.

What is going to be the best computer cinfiguration for XP in this type of
envirement.

Thank You

Doubtful you will see much benefit (given what you have) from the quad-core
beyond 'just having more processing power". (Don't take that wrong - never
a bad thing.)

Sounds more to me like you need video memory and main system memory. I
would suggest some quad capable video setup with 768MB+ video card(s) and a
64bit OS (if your applications can run on it) with 4+GB main system memory
(8GB likely good.)

The dual/quad core processor choice - I would make it on price-point.

That is - given your "environment"...

Well, it might be for many people, but if all you are doing with the
computer is using for an internet connection, I doubt if you'd see any
performance gain by having it. A single processor, even a relatively slow
one, would probably be fine for you.

You can have up to ten. Make sure you have at least one video card with two
outputs. You can buy and add more video cards if you want additional
monitors.

Again, almost the only thing that matters significantly is having enough
dual output video cards to support the number of monitors you want. Bigger
monitors, running at higher resolution would also let you have more on each
screen at once.

And make sure you have available slots for any extra video cards you want.

I assume you have a PC you are currently using an find it a little on the
slow side.

If so I would suggest that you analyze the strong and weak points of your
current
computer hardware. There are software tools out there that can help with
getting
some results and from that information you can see just what components in
a new PC would provide the best ROI.
