best AV, where else can worm hide?

I'm having the same typical svchost.exe error as everybody else infected,
but here's where it gets strange:

I've run Stinger, Newly updated Norton AV, and the MS patch for the Blaster
worm. I've also run Symantec's blaster removal tool. The AV software
doesn't turn anything up, but I still get the svchost error.

Am I using the wrong tools? Could this virus be hiding somewhere the AV
software can't find it?

It's getting frustrating!

This site was posted last night and I used their steps (1 through 3):

I was having the same problems as you on one machine (svchost error, patch
had been applied, McAfee deleted msblaster), I finally found it in the
registry. Crossing my fingers as I type this - but since performing these
steps in safe made the svchost error hasn't popped up anymore.
