If you 'right-click' on the desktop - is the item 'Arrange Icons By' >
'Show Desktop Icons' checked?
If not, then check it to bring back the icons by clicking on the item
(right-click on desktop > 'Arrange Icons By' > 'Show Desktop Icons' ).
As for the "My Documents" folder being called "O" - I think both issues
may well be to do with the fact that you have malware on your system.
They may be isolated errors, but it does no harm to download and run
MalwareBytes on your system.
Download MalwareBytes from :
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam/program/mbam-setup.exe
Although - if they are isolated incidents - you could probably correct
the problem with the "My Documents" folder being called "O" by deleting
the file "desktop.ini" within the "My Documents" folder (you will have
to turn on "Show hidden files" and "Show Operating System files" in
'Folder Options' before you can see the file to delete it).
Then, you should re-create the file by 'copying and pasting' the
following into Notepad and saving it as "desktop.ini" (include the
"quotes" in the 'Save As...' box so as not to save it as
desktop.ini.txt) :
[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=%systemroot%\System32\mydocs.dll
IconIndex=0
ConfirmFileOp=0
InfoTip=Personal Folder.
