Belkin USB 2.0 & Firewire PCI Card - Weird Problem

Hello.
My first time of posting so sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I've just
installed the above card into my PC. It has been recognised by XP and works a
treat. However, it is now impossible for me to "Shut Down" windows. When i
try the machine simply restarts ! Even the on/off button on the case results
in a restart. For reference the PC in question uses a Matsonic Motherboard
(about 6 months old and with the latest Bios installed this morning) with an
Athlon 2.5 processor. There is just one other PCI card installed, that being
Soundblaster Live. I've taken that out and the problem persists. I've tried
installing the new card in all of the available PCI slots to the same end.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

If you remove the Belkin card will the PC shut down properly? If it
does, that would mean the card is not ACPI compatible with XP. I have
had problems with certain cards myself and had to return one for a
refund. However, purchasing a different name brand card worked just
fine. That occurred with a USB 2.0 card.

If your Belkin card is preventing XP from shutting down properly, I
suggest returning it and try another brand. Just make sure if you do
try another card that it uses a different chipset.

Thanks for the reply CS. As you've probably guessed the problem does indeed
go away as soon as the Belkin card is removed. I'm beginning to think that
returning it to the shop is indeed the only option. Whats really annoying is
that the packaging clearly states that the darn thing is "designed for
windows XP" My PC is bang up to date with all the XP patches and BIOS
updates, so i really didn't expect to have this hassle. Still...things could
be worse.
