before switching to live mail

Before I switch to Windows live mail I would like to know the following:

Can I use Dutch spelling check from my installed MSOffice 2003?
Can I keep accessing my gmail account from live mail?
Can I still filter my messages/replies in newsgroups with 'ctrl H'?
Can I use rules for colour-marking my news messages/replies?
Are there compressing and backup options for live mail?

Can I transfer all content from Windows mail to live mail?
What do I do afterwards with Windows mail? Can it be removed/uninstalled?

Are there any disadvantages?

Thanks for shedding any light on this subject.

Yes, there is a fairly easy fix for that. Just ask in the WLM newsgroup.
Incidentally, the current beta of WLM has Dutch spell check included.
Released version (Nov. 2007): http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview
Beta version (Sep. 2008): http://download.live.com/wlmail
Can I keep accessing my gmail account from live mail?

Yes. WLM will do pretty much anything WM can do.
Can I still filter my messages/replies in newsgroups with 'ctrl H'?

Can't say since I don't use that.
Can I use rules for colour-marking my news messages/replies?
Yes.

Are there compressing and backup options for live mail?

No. All you can do is use the standard export method.
Can I transfer all content from Windows mail to live mail?

The installer does this automatically for the most part.
What do I do afterwards with Windows mail? Can it be removed/uninstalled?

Just let it lie dormant. It can't be uninstalled.
Are there any disadvantages?

The only one I can think of is that WLM does not have a feature
to edit HTML source code, like WM has. Most people don't need
that feature. The best way to find out whether WLM will suit
you is to try it. If it turns out you don't like it, merely uninstall.

And other langages too I suppose? Perhaps even auto-configure...?

Yes. WLM will do pretty much anything WM can do.

I use it often to find back my threads quickly and easily in large
newsgroups. In fact this option was my request in the Outlook Express
wishlist at the time. :) So I really hope they didn't take it out...

No. All you can do is use the standard export method.

I do have programs for backing up Outlook Express and Windows Mail. But I
suppose WLM has yet another format again...

What a waste...

So this one CAN be uninstalled... That's one advantage to start with :))

Thanks, I'll check it out asap.
